**Arctic System Prediction Specialist

Join MPOWIR Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention in our team as an Arctic System Prediction Specialist. The successful candidate will contribute to the Horizon 2020 project APPLICATE, predicting extreme weather events in the Arctic.

You will develop diagnostic tools for evaluating surface-atmosphere interactions and assess predictability of severe weather events. Our team will provide support and guidance to help you achieve your goals.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Developing diagnostics and tools to monitor the Earth system.
  • Analyzing large data sets to evaluate initial conditions and forecasts.
  • Investigating connections between the Arctic and mid-latitudes.

**Essential Qualifications:

  • A university degree or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in evaluating atmosphere-ocean interactions is essential.
  • Strong programming skills and knowledge of probabilistic Earth system forecasting concepts.
  • Candidates must be able to work effectively in English.

**Compensation Package:** £56,487 per annum (net of tax)
