SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support secondary students with special educational needs in renowned secondary schools in Gosport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized support to secondary students with SEN, SEND, SEMH, and ADHD.
  • Work in small groups or one-on-one settings to help students with their learning and development.
  • Assist teachers in creating and adapting lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Ensure smooth classroom activities by supporting students in the absence of the teacher.
  • Help implement behavior management strategies to maintain a focused and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage students to develop their social skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Ensure all students have the opportunity to fully engage in their education.

Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with children, especially in a secondary SEN environment or as a SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate, patient approach to supporting students.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and staff to support student progress.
