About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team of professionals working with schools across Gosport. We are looking for individuals who are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for students with special needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with diverse special needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs. They will be able to implement strategies to support students in reaching their maximum potential and contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement strategies to support students with diverse special needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs.
  • Cooperate with teachers and fellow SEN Teaching Assistants to foster an inclusive atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Utilise various methods to encourage positive behaviour and active participation in learning activities.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment by assisting with behaviour management and fostering a sense of belonging among students.
  • Offer personalised one-on-one assistance to students with special needs.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs.
  • Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
  • A patient and nurturing approach to working with children.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.
