We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional with a passion for delivering high-quality psychological services to individuals within the prison setting. As a member of our dynamic Psychology team, you will play a key role in developing innovative plans and strengthening multi-disciplinary working to support prisoners.

Your expertise will be instrumental in leading and developing a range of initiatives, including the creation of a psychologically led unit, and supporting a team of Forensic Psychologists in Training. You will also maintain direct contact with prisoners who require complex care, providing them with tailored support and interventions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise Forensic Psychologists in Training, engaging directly with prisoners to provide guidance and support.
  • Support and supervise staff handling cases with prisoners having complex needs, ensuring their psychological requirements are met.
  • Complete Parole Reports and conduct assessments (HCR20, PCL-R, IPDE, SARA) to inform treatment planning.
  • Conduct forensic assessments, formulate plans, and contribute to psychological treatment for prisoners, promoting rehabilitation and reducing reoffending.
  • Collaborate with the Psychology and Interventions team, prisoners, and the wider prison community to develop and deliver effective interventions.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings within and outside the prison, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead, develop, and contribute to new Offending Behaviour Programmes (OBP) with psychological oversight, promoting positive change in prisoners.
  • Provide training on managing behaviours, personality disorders, and share information on complex case formulations with relevant teams for effective prisoner management.
Requirements
  • HCPC Registered Forensic Psychologist
  • Knowledge of psychological theory in working with individuals with personality disorder, involvement in violent behaviour, and neurodiverse individuals
