About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Liverpool Mental Health Support Teams, you will play a vital role in providing early intervention and evidence-based interventions for children and young people and their families.

As a B6 Mental Health Practitioner, you will work across various educational, healthcare, and community settings to enable children and young people to access support in schools. You will have the opportunity to work with children and young people, families, and carers, as well as education providers, to provide a comprehensive assessment and formulation of the presenting problem.

Key responsibilities include communicating with clients and families about therapeutic processes, confidentiality, and available options, and providing individual, couple, family, and group interventions as part of a client's integrated therapeutic programme.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in child and adolescent mental health services, who is able to demonstrate a working knowledge of health, education, social services, and the voluntary sector. You will also have experience of working with children and young people who have complex needs, and be able to provide assessment and intervention in a variety of settings.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified in a core profession such as Mental Health Nurse, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapy, or Social Work
  • Training in child and family mental health related field
  • Two years' experience of post-graduate work in core profession/following qualification
  • Experience of working in child and adolescent mental health services
  • Able to provide assessment of emergency/self-harming behaviour
  • Working knowledge of child development
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to the overall vision and the development of the professional group of mental health practitioners
