About the Role

We are seeking an experienced or newly qualified mental health nurse to join our team at Regency Ward, a 20-bedded male acute ward located within Mill View Hospital in Hove.

As a mental health nurse, you will work alongside an established and experienced multi-disciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care and support patients in their recovery.

You will be responsible for assessing patients with complex mental health needs, developing care and recovery plans in collaboration with patients and their families/carers, and managing risks in conjunction with the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based inpatient nursing care in partnership with the team, service users, and their families.
  • Act as a primary nurse in the assessment of needs and organisation of care.
  • Co-ordinate shifts and provide supervision for support workers and students.
  • Work within a team of nurses and other professionals committed to delivering a quality service.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to hours of duty to meet the needs of the service over a 24-hour period.
  • Take charge of a designated clinical area and deputise as appropriate.
  • Represent the Ward Manager and/or care team at appropriate forums and disseminate information as required.
  • Represent the clinical team perspective at multidisciplinary meetings and clinical reviews of patient care.
Person Specification

We are looking for a qualified or newly qualified nurse with drive, passion, and a desire for self-development.

Essential qualifications include registration as a mental health nurse with current registration, and knowledge of MHA (1983/2007), Mental Capacity Act (2005), and child and adult safeguarding procedures.

Desirable qualifications include studying towards a Diploma or Degree.
