Job Title: Apprentice Digital and Electronic Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join our team at NCP NETWORK LTD in Edinburgh. As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electronic systems and products that meet or exceed customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Architecture and Concepts:
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
  • Research and identify the best fit for customer requirements, ensuring compliance and risk management.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electronic systems.
PCB Design:
  • Design and develop PCB assembly designs, including schematics, BOM, layout, and component library management.
  • Perform tolerance analysis of parts and assemblies to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure PCB and component physical interface (layout) meets customer requirements.
Prototype and Test:
  • Design and develop prototypes to test and validate electronic systems.
  • Procure prototypes and ensure timely delivery to meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective testing and troubleshooting.
Design Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, ensuring adherence to QMS processes and compliance standards.
  • Ensure quality standards of design outputs issued to clients or suppliers.
  • Produce and present material to both internal and external audiences.
Professionalism:
  • Exhibit professional behavior when dealing with clients, external stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Communicate openly and honestly, seeking and welcoming feedback.
  • Collaborate actively to solve problems and provide support as required.

Requirements:

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's honours degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience in electronics design and development.
  • Proficient in using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analysers, and other test equipment to troubleshoot and validate electronic designs.
  • Ability to identify technical risks in a project and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using design tools like Altium and Orcad.
  • Advanced user of MS applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
