Job Title: Senior Fabrication Supervisor

Our client in the Ossett area of Wakefield is seeking a Senior Team Leader to join their Fabrication department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality)
    • Ensure compliance with all aspects of Safety, Environmental, and Quality while promoting high standards of adherence.
    • Monitor and enforce adherence to the Company's SHEQ Policy and Employment Handbook.
    • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment and report any issues to the General Manager.
    • Ensure subcontractors adhere to the company's SHEQ Requirements while on site.
    • Investigate accidents and near-misses and close out with the General Manager/Production Manager.
    • Ensure teams are adequately trained and have read all Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Develop Risk Assessments and SOPs as needed.
  • Production Responsibilities
    • Organize, control, and direct the activities of team leaders and production operatives under your supervision.
    • Control work within the departments/section in accordance with the production plan and priorities defined by the General Manager.
    • Ensure work is completed within the allocated time and the planned customer requirement date.
    • Manage Indirect Hours.
    • Ensure effective, safe, and proper storage of materials within your team's department.
    • Set and control target hours for all jobs across your team to budget.
    • Ensure maintenance of plant, equipment, and tools within the department, working with the Maintenance department and General/Production Manager.
  • HR Responsibilities
    • Control attendance and absence.
    • Resolve conflicts within your team and assist other senior supervisors in resolving disputes.
    • Maintain discipline within the departments/section using company policies and processes where necessary.
    • Induct new/transferred employees in accordance with company procedures and make them aware of SHEQ guidance.
    • Train production operatives in tasks being performed within the department using the company's training process.
    • Conduct formal disciplinary reviews, including return to work interviews and other minor disciplinary hearings.
    • Identify Training Needs with the General Manager and HR Department.
    • Address other HR requirements necessary to manage your department/section.
Requirements:
  • IOSH Training or Equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2 Minimum or Team Leadership Course
  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
  • Proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role
  • Ability to conduct first-line disciplinary actions
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Ability to perform mental arithmetic for working out performance metrics
