The NHS is committed to delivering high-quality care to patients affected by stroke. As a Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in advancing the body of knowledge through education, research, and audit, while contributing to developing practice within the multidisciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities
  • You will work closely with clinical colleagues to provide expert care and support for patients with stroke, ensuring a seamless, coordinated, and timely approach to care.
  • Effective leadership and monitoring of professional and care standards at ward/department level are key responsibilities, working independently in clinic settings and alongside nursing and medical teams in the ward setting.
  • Able to confidently escalate concerns about patient safety, quality, and experience, offering solutions and evidence-based recommendations.
  • National and local policy and guidance must be delivered and maintained, fostering a culture that encourages staff to challenge and report substandard practice.
  • Participate and deliver Stroke outpatients' clinics for review or follow-up when directed by the Clinical Lead, staying up-to-date with emerging Evidence Base around Acute Stroke Care.

Essential Requirements

This role requires post-registration experience at a senior level (band 6 or above) in a speciality area, with evidence of dissemination of knowledge in wider healthcare organizations.

DBS Check and Disclosure

This position is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check, adhering to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

Job Location and Contract Details

Stepping Hill Hospital's Stroke Department, with a permanent full-time contract.

A highly competitive salary package includes an estimated annual salary of £43,141 - £70,718, depending on qualifications and experience.
