Role Overview: As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who face challenges with behaviour and social interactions, helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • One-on-One Support: Work closely with students who require additional behavioural support, helping them to develop strategies to manage their behaviour and succeed in school.
  • Small Group Interventions: Lead small group sessions focused on social skills, anger management, and conflict resolution to help students build positive relationships with their peers and staff.
  • Classroom Assistance: Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive learning environment for all students.
  • Developing Behaviour Plans: Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and parents to create and implement individualized behaviour plans tailored to students' needs.
  • Monitoring Progress: Regularly track and report on students' progress, adjusting interventions as needed to ensure they are effective.
  • Crisis Management: Provide immediate support in situations where students are struggling to control their behaviour, helping to de-escalate situations and maintain a safe environment.
  • Mentoring and Guidance: Serve as a positive role model for students, offering advice and guidance to help them navigate challenges both inside and outside of school.
  • Parent and Staff Liaison: Maintain open communication with parents and school staff to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour management.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with behavioural challenges, in an educational, social care, or youth work setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to think on your feet in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to their learning and development.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, psychology, or a related field are advantageous but not essential.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in students' lives, working within a supportive school environment that values your contributions. If you are committed to helping young people thrive and succeed, we encourage you to apply.
