Job Title: Pastoral Mentor – De-Escalation and Engagement

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pastoral Mentor to join our team at Highfields College. As a Pastoral Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education, helping them access learning and education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work day-to-day as a mentor for a form group of students, building strong relationships and providing emotional support.
  • Support students academically and emotionally, helping them to attend lessons, engage with learning, and interact respectfully with peers and staff.
  • Use your expertise to help students develop social skills, citizenship, and character, creating a safe and upbeat learning environment.
  • Collaborate with experienced staff to provide a wide range of opportunities for students to develop academically and personally.

Requirements:

  • Empathy and understanding of students with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Ability to work positively in a challenging and demanding environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
