About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Operations Centre Engineer to join our team at Amazon Data Services UK Limited. As a key member of our Data Centre Global Engineering Operations organization, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of our Facilities Operations Centre (FOC) strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage the data centre's physical infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external teams, providing technical expertise and support as needed.
  • Assist in the development of communication and escalation protocols to improve team performance and ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Contribute to outage post-mortem analysis, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, including updates to system documentation and issue tracking entries.
  • Support emergency recovery efforts, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Develop and implement tools to enhance team performance, improving efficiency and effectiveness in the FOC.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience, with a strong understanding of data centre IT infrastructure and facilities infrastructure.
  • 1+ years of experience working with building and/or electrical platform management systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in data centre engineering/operations, with a proven track record of success in a large-scale data centre environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to maintain SLAs through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting tools.
  • Ability to follow and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries.
  • Complex problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box.
