This is an immediate starting position, and the ideal candidate will be based in Waltham, with the possibility of working from Paddington or Slough areas.
The successful Employee Relations Advisor will join the Associate Relations Team, consisting of 6 employees based in the mentioned offices. Our client is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor who is accustomed to working in various large organizations and can adapt to different protocols and procedures. The role requires managing a high volume of cases, including conversations, guidance, disciplinary, and grievance-level issues.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Associate Relations (AR) Manager to provide advice and support to line managers, associates, and P&O Business Partners on Employee Relations matters, including performance improvement, conduct issues, grievances, sickness absence, flexible working requests, and workplace concerns.
- Ensure Employee Relations investigations are conducted thoroughly, fairly, and objectively, aligning with the company's Five Principles, Associate Concept, and legislative requirements.
- Partner with and coach line managers on performance improvement processes and documentation.
- Provide interpretation of AR policies and processes to Line Managers and Business Partners, making recommendations for policy enhancements and updates as required.
- Engage with the AR Manager and AR Lead on complex, high-risk situations for respective Sites/Client Groups.
- Ensure proper documentation and follow-up.
- Work proactively with the AR Manager on case management levels relating to the segments to ensure workloads are manageable and cases are responded to in a timely manner.
- Participate in weekly case review meetings collaboratively with the UK/Ireland AR team to help with case management, identify trends, and initiate processes as required.
- Ensure accurate input into Service Now (SNOW) for case management as required.
- Work in partnership with the AR Manager to track and report on segment AR trends proactively.
- Through the Service to Partnership model, using AR data and insights, work collaboratively with P&O Business Partners to identify and drive required AR interventions.
- Develop the skills and capacity of line managers in the AR space to manage people issues effectively and independently, creating and delivering AR Capability programs as required.
- Provide support as required to the AR Manager on any organizational change initiatives, including restructures, business transfers, and changes to terms and conditions of employment.
- Identify AR trends and best practices, partnering with the AR Lead as required, to take appropriate actions.
- Deliver against the AR Strategy and UK/Ireland Priority set, participating in Local, Regional, and Global AR projects as required.
- Assist with Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) as required, in collaboration with internal legal counsel, FeDs, and Data Privacy teams.
- Partner with Legal Counsel (internal and external) as required on employment issues.
- Participate in segment SIM/SMART/LM Community calls/meetings as required.
- Partner with Line Managers to deploy AR processes in line with the 5Ps (Company policies) and Associate Concept.
- Resolve disputes and conflicts in partnership with Line Managers and P&O Business Partners.
- Leverage best practices, trends, and employment law developments to identify areas of improvement and communicate suggestions to the AR Manager and AR Lead.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of legal developments and leading industry Associate Relations practices.
- Ideal candidate: CIPD qualified and educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Significant experience working in Employee Relations.
- Strong communication, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals across all levels of the organization.
- Strong understanding of UK employment law.
- Ability to manage internal and external resources to mitigate risks to the Mars business and reputation.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong consultancy and problem-solving skills.
- Strong conflict management skills.
- Ability to work independently and own discrete areas of responsibility.
- Solid experience in case management, including the use and development of case management and reporting systems.
- Confident in P&O data analytics and insight generation.
- Team player with a customer mindset and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trust and interface effectively and confidently with all levels of associates and Line Managers.
- Experience of coaching managers on performance and conduct matters.
- Ability to handle and prioritize a high case load.
