Radiography Career Opportunity

We are seeking a suitably qualified Therapeutic Radiographer to join our team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury, UK.

This supportive and collaborative working environment enables you to participate in Radiographer-led initiatives, including Review Clinics, Site-specific MDTs, virtual simulation, and IGRT.

The department actively encourages role development and helps staff achieve their personal goals and aspirations. You will have the opportunity to work flexible hours, with full-time posts working 37 hours per week.

All staff participate in on-call for emergency patients at weekends, late rota, and on call.

Main Duties:
  • Carry out all aspects of Radiotherapy treatment in line with the requirements of the Radiotherapy Services Manager.
  • Work alongside other professional groups to develop site-specific techniques to improve the quality of care for patients receiving radiotherapy in this department.
About Our Department:

The department consists of 3 Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators, a Gulmay Unit, and a Canon wide bore CT scanner with radiographer-led palliative virtual simulation using Eclipse.

We are planning to extend the SABR service to include bone and nodes soon. We have introduced SGRT and participate in tattoo-less radiotherapy.

We have an active Clinical Trials department and participate in most major trials.

Requirements:
  • State registration with the Health Professions Council.
Desirable:
  • Carried out research undertaking post-graduate qualifications.
  • Wide experience with radiotherapy equipment and techniques.
  • Experience with megavoltage, orthovoltage, and superficial treatment units.
  • Knowledge acquired during BSc or equivalent training includes:
    • Oncology - Fully comprehensive and detailed knowledge of disease process and treatment.
    • Principles of radiotherapy techniques.
    • Application of radiation physics to Radiotherapy.
    • Legislation associated with the use of ionising radiation in medicine (Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations (IRMER), Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR)).
    • Health and Safety procedures.
    • Chemotherapy - drugs and modes of action.
    • CT planning including 4D CT.
Salary:

An estimated salary for this position is £45,753 - £60,461 per annum.
