We are seeking a skilled Electrical and Electronics Design Engineer or Senior Electrical and Electronics Engineer to join our team at the University of Bristol. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for supporting a diverse range of projects across electrical, electronic, and mechanical domains.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and build equipment from concepts to completion, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and University procedures.
- Install equipment both electrically and mechanically as required.
- Operate, service, maintain, and calibrate workshop equipment, including soldering irons, hand and power tools, multimeters, PAT testers, and specialist equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify basic electrical/electronic problems to find short and long-term solutions.
- Provide assistance and training to students and researchers in their projects or experiments.
- Assist in defining and managing standards, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Train and support other team members in electrical, electronic, and mechanical domains.
- Broad expertise in electrical, analogue, and digital electronics, data acquisition, and micro-processing.
- Regulatory understanding and ability to follow industry standards and codes of practice.
- IT proficiency and expertise in relevant specialist software.
- Exceptional organisation and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Creative problem-solving and experience in devising, reviewing, and delivering complex solutions.
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate outputs.
- Extensive expertise in electrical, analogue, and digital electronics, data acquisition, and micro-processing.
- Regulatory understanding and ability to translate industry standards into internal University practices.
- Safety experience and ability to write risk assessments and safe operating procedures.
We are open to considering candidates for the lower-grade position with a clear path to promotion to the higher grade for those who demonstrate strong potential and a good fit for the role. The successful candidate will work primarily on-site, with some flexibility for hybrid work arrangements.
