About the Role

The Strategic Financial Planning Lead (Cost Optimisation) plays a pivotal role in supporting H M Revenue & Customs' financial planning, driving cost optimisation, and developing cost reduction plans. This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of financial data, analysis, and insights to inform strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and develop a diverse team of professionals, and wider CDIO Finance leadership.
  • Cost Optimisation: Lead on Cost Optimisation approaches and embed these in ways of working across the CDIO Finance function.
  • Cost Reduction Programme: Oversee the development of a cost reduction programme, tracking agreed initiatives and leading on new projects.
  • Automation: Lead on the Automation of both CDIO tools and wider HMRC activities.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Maintain ongoing lists of risks & opportunities (both performance impacting and other).
Requirements
  • Accountancy Qualification: Accountancy qualification (CCAB or equivalent).
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Financial Modelling: Strong financial modelling abilities.
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
Desirable Criteria
  • Cost Optimisation Experience: Experience in a similar Cost Optimisation or analysis role.
  • Financial Software: Knowledge of relevant financial software and tools.
  • Interpersonal and Collaboration Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Adaptability: Adaptability to change and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
