Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Psychology Graduate, you will have the opportunity to work with students with complex needs related to SEMH difficulties, Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, and other conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.
  • Establish a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the school.
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times.
  • Support the class teacher and contribute to providing high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities and experiences through supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Remain patient when dealing with trying circumstances or emotional behaviour, and be accepting of other people's lifestyles and understanding of how that person's mental health issues may impact their day-to-day life.

Requirements

  • No experience required, but an understanding and awareness of SEMH disorders, alongside an empathetic and nurturing approach, is essential.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and be flexible enough to deal with a range of different behaviour that may present certain challenges.
  • Applicants must have an understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
