Training Director for Dental Core Training

An exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of dental training in the South West as a key member of the Postgraduate Dental team. The role of Training Programme Director is to work with the Postgraduate Dean and Associate Dean to ensure the delivery of a wide range of functions within the specialty, aligned to the NHS England mandate.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of dental training across the region and who will also have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.
Main Duties of the Job
The Programme Director will oversee the South West Dental Core Training Programme, ensuring that both national standards and guidelines and standards established within the South West are met. Responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the South West Dental Core Training Programme
- Specialty-specific matters and trainee\/trainer concerns
- Recruitment to training posts and programmes
- Postgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support, remediation, OOP management, trainee management, careers support, less than full-time training, inter-deanery transfer, academic training, and other related work-streams.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Registered Medical or Dental Practitioner with a current licence to practise or hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (or equivalent) in Public Health (for roles in School of Public Health)
- Applicants should either work in NHS clinical practice (or similar setting) or should have previously undertaken clinical practice within the last 2 years prior to the intended start date of the role
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Experience of working with learners and dentists in training in an educational context
- Experience of clinical and educational leadership including across multi-professional teams
Skills and Abilities
