Job Overview

Lka People Ltd is seeking a skilled HGV Class 1 Driver to join their Transport Team based in Witham, Essex. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering and collecting customers' freight as assigned by the Transport Office to and from various locations and regions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Delivery and collection of customers' freight as assigned by the Transport Office
  • Multi-drop delivery and collections
  • Supervise the loading of your vehicle to ensure products are safely loaded and secured
  • Ensure the correct goods and quantity of goods are loaded and unloaded
  • Plan your day and route in the most cost and operationally effective manner
  • Presentation, processing, and return of customers' Delivery Notes
  • Secure and return Proof of Delivery advice notes (POD) electronic and/or manual
  • Inform the Transport Office of any delays to or whilst at work
  • Maintain your vehicle in a clean and tidy condition
  • Refuel your vehicle daily in accordance with Company Procedure
  • Exercise due care and attention to other road users and members of the public through safe and courteous driving
Requirements
  • Experience as an HGV Class 1 driver
  • Experience trunking hub to hub (pallet force)
  • RHIDES card holder would be an added advantage but not required
  • Clean Class 1 (C+E) Licence
  • Valid Driver CPC
  • Current Digital Tacho Card
  • Knowledge of vehicle weights and legal limits
  • Understanding of Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive Regulations
  • Knowledge of Road Traffic Laws
  • Knowledge of Construction and Use Regulations
  • Freight container and Port of Felixstowe operational experience an advantage but not required
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Effective communicator
  • Ability to accept responsibility and carry out responsible tasks
  • Computer literate
