Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Collections Preservation Specialist to lead our conservation team in maintaining the highest standards of preservation for our collections based in Portsmouth.

This 12-month contract will focus on leading the conservation workflow on an exciting new development in Portsmouth, a project to re-imagine Boathouse 6 as a new exhibition at the Royal Marines Museum.

The successful candidate will work closely with fellow conservators and the collections team to apply conservation best-practice to our work with the collections.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the conservation workflow on the exhibition project.
  2. Gain practical experience of a wide range of conservation tasks, preventive and interventive, on a challenging collection.
  3. Contribute to the conservation of our nationally and internationally important collection of historic ships and objects.
Requirements
  1. A professional conservation qualification at degree level or equivalent experience is required.
  2. Demonstrable experience of leading conservation workflow on exhibition projects in a museum setting.
