About the Role

AWE Plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiological Waste Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Waste Services Group, you will be responsible for the review, sentencing, recording, and consignment of Radioactive Solid and Non-aqueous Waste on behalf of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to demonstrate compliance with third-party Waste Acceptance Criteria.
  • Administer resources to realize the export of RA Waste while ensuring AWE remains within its Permits and Authorisations.
  • Identify and assess any assay necessary to support RA waste sentencing.
  • Identify waste suitability for external consignment via existing routes under an established framework contract.
  • Administrate the creation, maintenance, and secure storage of lifetime records associated with RA waste.
  • Generate accurate RA waste consignment paperwork and review appropriate approvals from receiving sites prior to exporting RA Waste.
  • Consign RA waste from the AWE estate in compliance with the Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations.
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.
Requirements
  • A good standard of basic education and strong numeracy skills.
  • Experience of working with nuclear waste (beneficial but not essential).
  • Experience utilizing a database to interpret and manipulate information.
  • Experience of collating and presenting information in structured reports.
  • An awareness of health and safety, and good working practice.
Security Clearance

All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
