About the Role

AWE plc is seeking a highly skilled Bulk Waste Characterisation Specialist to join our Radiochemistry Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting environmental regulatory compliance through scientific interpretation and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage the bulk waste characterisation programme, including planning, scheduling, and tasking.
  • Process and interpret measurement test data to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Support sampling surveys, including sample collection and in-field measurements using various instrumentation.
  • Assist in programme reviews, development, and implementation, ensuring alignment with company standards and stakeholder expectations.
  • Apply company Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality Standards in all aspects of work.
Requirements
  • Hold an HND/BSc/NVQ (level 4+) qualification in a science-based subject or equivalent relevant working experience (minimum of 2 years).
  • Demonstrate strong communication and IT skills.
  • Have a solid understanding of radiological and chemical materials and measurements, as well as knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements associated with nuclear licensed sites.
  • Be able to work calmly and constructively in a priority-changing environment, manage workload, and meet deadlines.
