Job Title: Teaching Assistant Specialist

School Staffing is recruiting for an organisation that provides education and care to young people aged 11 to 17 with complex needs.

The organisation has been working with young people since 1997 in the High Peaks of Derbyshire, offering a range of educational, social, and leisure activities.

About the Role:
  • We are seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to work under the instruction and guidance of senior education staff, delivering high-quality learning and teaching.
  • You will contribute to the personalised nature of our education provision by regularly communicating with other members of the education team and care staff about each pupil's progress and needs.
  • As part of our varied education offer, you may work across multiple sites and in the local community, as required.
  • Your primary focus will be on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and young people at all times.
Requirements:
  • You must hold a relevant teaching assistant qualification (Level 3 qualification and above).
  • A specialism or demonstrable experience in supporting the wider KS2 curriculum would be beneficial.
  • Experience engaging reluctant learners and dealing with challenging behaviour is essential.
  • You should have an innate ability to relate to young people and understand their needs.
  • Knowledge of the national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes is necessary.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with colleagues and external parties is key.
  • You should be able to use a variety of equipment, such as practical science kit and art materials.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and possession of a full, valid manual driving licence are also required.
