Housing Management Worker Job Description

At Home Group Limited, we are seeking a skilled Housing Specialist to join our team in Transitional Housing, Durham Mental Wellbeing Alliance. As a key member of our team, you will provide a housing management service to our customers, ensuring their homes are safe and well maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support customers to manage and maintain their tenancy, with the aim of helping them move on to a secure, long-term accommodation.
  • Work with customers who have mental health support needs to develop their skills and support them in managing their tenancy independently.
  • Ensure that our customers' properties are homes they can be proud of, by engaging and involving them in their tenancies.
  • Help our customers with any benefit claims, setting up and maintaining all aspects of financial management.
  • Turn around vacant or void properties within set timescales, involving tasks such as picking up a broom or paint brush.
  • Carry out and record routine safety and compliance checks in our buildings and communities, ensuring we are compliant.
  • Manage the administration of updating records, ordering, and arranging payment for works to be done.

Requirements:
  • A background in property management, although this is not a requirement.
  • A can-do, positive attitude, being proactive and well-organized, and able to work on your own initiative.
  • A passion for delivering excellent customer service and a genuine desire to help your customers.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the business, as well as with external partners.
  • Confidence in using technology for creating and updating support plans, making benefit claims, and doing tenancy sign-ups.
