Cranfield-based automotive company seeks a skilled Body Electronics Engineer for a long-term contract role. As a key member of the team, you will work on generating cost reduction ideas, integrating electrical and electronic components, and managing supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives for electronic components, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Apply and integrate electrical and electronic components and systems into European vehicles.
- Manage and maintain vehicle Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Capture customer requirements and create high-level specifications.
- Coordinate with global Alliance R&D centers.
- Manage tier 1 suppliers to achieve quality, cost, and timing targets.
- Validate supplier and in-house work to client standards.
- Create and maintain end-of-line configuration data.
- Take on frontline responsibility for plant and market support.
- Meet standard KPIs for cost, quality, and timing.
- Achieve commitment cost at monitor timing.
- Closure of QBASE and G-CAR within company guidelines.
- Design release according to agreed date in release schedule.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in electronic or electrical engineering.
- Proficient in PC applications such as MS Office.
- Knowledge of CAN, CAN tools, and vehicle diagnostics.
- Valid driving license.
- Practical experience with problem-solving tools and techniques.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.
- Knowledge of electrical theory and electronic devices.
- Understanding of hardware and software development processes.
- Project and supplier management experience.
- Ability to travel within the UK and internationally for supplier visits and other global R&D centers.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Self-motivated and self-managing.
- Monday to Friday
- 39 hours per week
- £27.00 per hour
