A level 5 (£750k) mandated underwriter will ensure effective and efficient mortgage application processing, develop successful relationships with brokers and advisors, and enhance our service throughout the customer journey.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure all financial, quality, regulatory, responsible lending, and service requirements are met and maintained.
2. Maintain a level 5 underwriting mandate and underwrite mortgage applications using a holistic approach that aligns with our risk appetite, regulatory obligations, and ensures exceptional customer service.
3. Operate within agreed mandate, effectively utilizing allowable exceptions to policy where appropriate, based on judgment and experience.
4. Ensure responsibilities regarding Consumer Duty, the Prevention of Financial Crime, responsible lending, and complaints are carried out effectively, in accordance with Company policies.

Requirements:
1. Extensive experience in mortgage underwriting, the mortgage intermediary market, its products, marketing approach, and processes.
2. Manual mortgage underwriting experience.
3. Regulation/Legislation Awareness, with knowledge of the Regulated Financial Services environment and demonstrable understanding of Consumer Duty, responsible lending, and regulatory knowledge.
4. Proactive, hardworking, and flexible approach, with ability to work under own initiative but also as a team player.
5. Proficient in MS Office and credit risk decision systems.
