About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welfare Rights Specialist to join our team at Camden Council. As a key member of our Welfare Rights Team, you will provide expert advice and guidance on welfare benefits to adults who are unable to access benefits services in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice on welfare benefits, including income maximisation, better off calculations, and benefit reviews and appeals.
  • Work closely with frontline Adult Social Care colleagues, health practitioners, and community partners to provide 2nd tier advice and support.
  • Deliver training, seminars, and lunch and learn talks on welfare benefits to upskill colleagues and community groups.
  • Advocate for individuals with the Department of Work and Pensions and other relevant organisations.
Requirements
  • Two years' recent direct experience in giving detailed benefits advice and undertaking benefit checks.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience of training or giving talks to large groups of people.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and manage a complex and diverse workload.
  • Trained by a known professional welfare rights organisation.
