About the Role

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Consultant in Perioperative Medicine to join our team. As a key member of the Acute Surgery department, you will be working closely with an Intensive Care and Perioperative Consultant and in partnership with an Acute Medical and Anaesthetic Consultant.

This is an exciting opportunity to expand our service and optimise perioperative care for acute surgical patients. You will be working with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement evidence-based models of care, and will have a leadership role in continuing our ambitious project to develop our perioperative service.

As a Consultant in Perioperative Medicine, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our service. You will have the opportunity to work with a range of patients, including those with complex medical needs, and will be expected to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in your field.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in geriatric and anaesthetic medicine, and will be able to demonstrate their ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. They will also have excellent communication and leadership skills, and will be able to contribute to the development of our service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams and contributing to the development of our service
• Work closely with an Intensive Care and Perioperative Consultant and in partnership with an Acute Medical and Anaesthetic Consultant
• Develop and implement evidence-based models of care, and lead clinical teams to deliver high-quality patient care
• Contribute to the development of our service, including the development of new policies and procedures
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in your field, and contribute to the development of our service

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:
• A strong background in geriatric and anaesthetic medicine
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• The ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• A strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
• A willingness to contribute to the development of our service
