About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will provide a highly specialist speech and language therapy service for children and young people with severe and complex learning difficulties in Perseid special schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist speech and language therapy assessment, advice, and treatment to a defined caseload of children and young people with severe and complex needs.
  • Work in partnership with children and young people, their families, and other professions and agencies to reduce the impact of speech, language, and communication difficulties on their social and emotional development, learning, and ability to participate in daily life.
  • Contribute to the development of the special schools speech and language therapy service for children and young people.
  • Work autonomously and without direct supervision, being accountable for your own actions.
Requirements
  • Degree/Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Registration with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Postgraduate dysphagia training at intermediate level or Quest.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant post-registration specialist education.
  • Evidence of attendance at short courses to develop specialist skills.
  • Evidence of additional training in the use of high-tech AAC.
