Job Description

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at a dynamic and expanding special school in Swindon. The school caters to students with moderate or severe learning difficulties and social communication difficulties, including those with autism, ADHD, or other complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons to students aged 5-19, focusing on English, Maths, Science, and project work.
  • Prepare and teach lessons that are practical, creative, and tailored to individual students' needs.
  • Develop students' life skills, such as reading a bus timetable and making a hot drink.
  • Utilize ICT effectively to support teaching and learning.
  • Employ an enthusiastic, imaginative, and caring approach to children with SEND.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to build positive relationships and achieve student goals.
  • Set high expectations for students' achievements in learning, independence, and behavior.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalency (QTLS).
  • Experience working in primary or SEN settings.
  • Excellent communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work with children at a primary age.
