At Materials Nexus, we're on a mission to revolutionize the way materials are discovered and produced. As a Staff Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in championing software excellence and scalability, enabling our scientific platform to make greater change at an even faster rate.

 

The Role:

  • Mentor and guide other members of the tech team to develop their software development skills while improving architectural decision-making.
  • Champion software development best practices, including implementing robust architectural design, thorough code review, and comprehensive testing strategies.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, reliability, performance, and security of our software from the planning phase through deployment.

 

We're looking for someone with experience in large multi-developer environments, with a passion for building functional, scalable, market-ready products. You should be well-versed in DevOps, cloud environments (AWS, Azure), and database management. Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and Linux environments is essential.

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Has expertise in high-performance languages like C++, Julia, and RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and web frameworks (Flask/Django).
  • Is comfortable with flexible work arrangements, including remote work options and 33 days annual leave/year.

Estimated Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
