About the Role

The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is seeking a highly skilled Consultant in Emergency Ophthalmology and Cataract to join its team. As a key member of the ophthalmology department, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise in emergency eye care and cataract services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership for the emergency eye casualty department and cataract services
  • Contribute to the development of emergency eye care services for the region
  • Participate in the general ophthalmology on-call rota and provide specialist opinion within the department
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care

Requirements

  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview
  • Extensive experience in general ophthalmology and sub-specialty experience in emergency ophthalmology and cataract services
  • Up-to-date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty, including independent cataract surgical skills
