Job Title: SEN English Teacher

We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEN English Teacher to join our team at a specialist SEN Secondary School in Salford. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Eduqas English Language GCSE to students with Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to the needs of students with Autism and MLD, focusing on the Eduqas English Language GCSE curriculum.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of individual students, using specialist strategies to support communication, literacy, and engagement.
  • Provide a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that encourages confidence and learning.
  • Work closely with the SEN team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and differentiated learning strategies.
  • Regularly assess student progress, offering constructive feedback and adjusting lesson plans to maximise learning outcomes.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting independence, self-esteem, and social development.

Requirements:
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) with a specialism or experience in English.
  • Previous experience teaching students with Autism, MLD, or other SEN in an educational setting desirable.
  • A deep understanding of the challenges students with Autism and MLD face, with the ability to create tailored, engaging lesson plans.
  • Experience with the Eduqas English Language GCSE curriculum is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration with SEN professionals, parents, and students.
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
