Missing Support Worker - Empower U

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Empower U, a dynamic multi-agency Exploitation Hub. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in reducing the level of missing episodes and periods for Birmingham's young people, with a focus on reducing the risk of exploitation.

About the Role

You will work directly with young people who have gone missing, making contact with them upon their return to offer a return home interview. You will also work within an area team approach and with other professionals and local organisations to identify and address the issues that are leading a young person to go missing.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Engage with young people effectively in creative and non-judgmental ways.
  2. Conduct return home interviews to understand the reasons behind a young person's absence.
  3. Work collaboratively with other professionals and local organisations to address the root causes of missing episodes.
  4. Develop and maintain a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and issues related to exploitation and serious youth violence.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Good people skills and experience of engaging young people effectively.
  • A caring nature and a professional curiosity about why a young person has gone missing.
  • A good knowledge of safeguarding procedures and insight into issues such as exploitation and serious youth violence.
