Missing Support Worker

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with young people who have gone missing. As a key member of our team, you will make contact with them to offer a return home interview, aiming to reduce the level of missing episodes and periods for Birmingham's young people.

About the Role

You will be working within Empower U, a dynamic multi-agency Exploitation Hub, developing an innovative city-wide contextual safeguarding approach to issues around exploitation, missing, and serious youth violence. You will need good people skills and experience of engaging young people effectively in creative and non-judgmental ways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with young people who have gone missing to offer return home interviews
  • Contribute to reducing the level of missing episodes and periods for Birmingham's young people
  • Collaborate with other professionals and local organizations to identify and address issues leading to missing episodes
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and issues such as exploitation and serious youth violence

Requirements

A caring nature, good people skills, and experience of engaging young people effectively are essential. You will also need a good knowledge of safeguarding procedures and insight into issues such as exploitation and serious youth violence. The approach will be underpinned by empowering, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally competent practice.
