Logistics Freight Business Development Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Freight Business Development Manager to join our dynamic team at Reed. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the freight industry to expand our client base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the freight industry to expand our client base
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
- Sales Strategy: Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape
- Proposal Preparation: Prepare and present compelling proposals and quotations to prospective clients
- Networking: Attend industry events and networking opportunities to promote our services and generate leads
- Customer Service: Handle incoming calls and emails, providing first-class logistics service
- Logistics Coordination: Plan and organise effective freight routes and transportation solutions
- Tracking & Reporting: Monitor freight movement using bespoke software and keep clients updated
- Training: Educate clients on the use of our internal and external software solutions
Target Industries:
Biology, Tourism, Financial Services, Space, Textile, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Energy, Engineering, Ship Building, and FMCG
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in business development within the freight or logistics industry
- Strong understanding of freight operations and logistics solutions
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent multi-tasking and prioritisation skills
- Attention to detail and organisational efficiency
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and a team player
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of the shipping/logistics industry
- Previous experience in helpdesk support or sales in a customer-facing environment
