Logistics Freight Business Development Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Freight Business Development Manager to join our dynamic team at Reed. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the freight industry to expand our client base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the freight industry to expand our client base
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape
  • Proposal Preparation: Prepare and present compelling proposals and quotations to prospective clients
  • Networking: Attend industry events and networking opportunities to promote our services and generate leads
  • Customer Service: Handle incoming calls and emails, providing first-class logistics service
  • Logistics Coordination: Plan and organise effective freight routes and transportation solutions
  • Tracking & Reporting: Monitor freight movement using bespoke software and keep clients updated
  • Training: Educate clients on the use of our internal and external software solutions

Target Industries:

Biology, Tourism, Financial Services, Space, Textile, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Energy, Engineering, Ship Building, and FMCG

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in business development within the freight or logistics industry
  • Strong understanding of freight operations and logistics solutions
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Excellent multi-tasking and prioritisation skills
  • Attention to detail and organisational efficiency
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and a team player
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of the shipping/logistics industry
  • Previous experience in helpdesk support or sales in a customer-facing environment
