Patient Access Representative

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Ensemble Health Partners. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will be responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at our hospital. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign accurate Medical Record Numbers (MRNs) and complete medical necessity/compliance checks
- Provide proper patient instructions and collect insurance information
- Process physician orders and utilize an overlay tool to ensure accurate and efficient patient registration
- Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls
- Adhere to policies and provide excellent customer service in all interactions
- Meet point of service goals and conduct quality audits to ensure accurate and timely registration
- Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits and collect point of service collections and past due balances
- Explain general consent for treatment forms to patients/guarantors/legal guardians and obtain necessary signatures
- Review eligibility responses in insurance verification systems and select applicable insurance plan codes
- Screen medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software and distribute ABNs as needed
Requirements:
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Certified Registration Coordinator (CRCR) certification required within 9 months of hire
