About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Community Support Worker to join our dedicated team at Blind Veterans UK. As a Community Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting our members in Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and Derbyshire to achieve their goals and maximize their independence and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments to identify the needs of individuals and develop personalized plans to meet those needs.
  • Provide a member-led service, collaborating with members to plan and deliver specialist interventions, wellbeing programs, and rehabilitation events.
  • Act as the service coordinator and main point of contact for members, responding to queries and feedback to better coordinate services.
  • Demonstrate and issue equipment to support members' independence.
  • Support the development and work of our volunteers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide effective support.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and risk management policies, identifying and acting on safeguarding concerns.
About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Experience working with people with disabilities to maximize their independence and wellbeing.
  • Experience and knowledge of completing comprehensive, holistic assessments.
  • Experience delivering remote and face-to-face services.
  • The ability to use assessment tools and action plans.
  • The ability to identify safeguarding concerns and act in line with policies.
  • A relevant Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience.
