About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Editor to join our team at The Lancet Regional Health. As a key member of our editorial team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the content and direction of our journal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Editor-in-Chief in making decisions on new submissions for publication.
  • Help develop editorial strategy, including special projects such as Series and Commissions.
  • Oversee the timely production of 12 journal issues.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new Editors on the team.
  • Write editorials, organize peer review of research articles and reviews, and conduct webinars and podcasts with authors and key opinion leaders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with medical research communities to solicit high-quality research.
  • Represent the journal at conferences and other events.
Requirements
  • A medical degree or higher degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Senior-level editorial experience with a good understanding of editorial process and journal production.
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical and global public health pertaining to the WHO Europe region.
  • Ability to engage and build relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work efficiently to demanding deadlines.
  • Excellent command of the English language and ability to write in an engaging and interesting manner.
  • Proficiency with IT systems, including MS Office.
  • Genuine commitment to equity in health and healthcare.
  • Unfailing can-do attitude.
