Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Ultrasound Department as a Trainee Sonographer. This is an exciting opportunity to train in ultrasound and become a skilled sonographer, providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake a post-graduate diploma in Medical Ultrasound, which will include a blend of study blocks and clinical placements across our sites. Following completion, you will undertake a minimum of 3 months full-time preceptorship, progressing to a Band 7 when able to work to the same level as other junior Band 7 sonographers.

You will work in mainly outpatient and community sites, undertaking routine scans requested by GPs, and will have the opportunity to work in ED ultrasound, inpatient ultrasound, SDEC, and portable scans on the ward, including ITU.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Radiography or a nursing/midwifery degree, with a 2:1 or higher, and registration with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent. They will also have a minimum of 18 months post-qualification experience in a clinical graduate role and evidence of ultrasound observation in all areas.

The successful candidate will be able to liaise effectively with patients, have strong report writing and negotiation skills, and be IT literate. They will also have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be flexible in their approach to work.
