RPS Group is seeking an experienced Extraction Chemist to join our laboratory team in Bedford. This role is ideal for recent graduates in Chemistry or related fields who want to build their experience in a fast-paced commercial laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and extract samples for a wide range of environmental contaminants in different sample types.
- Work under the supervision of a Senior Analytical Chemist to manage your workload and collaborate with colleagues in a small team.
- Maintain a working stock of consumables and chemicals essential for daily activities and tasks.
- Conduct laboratory checks, including calibration and maintenance of equipment such as pipettes, balances, and other bench tools.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of basic laboratory skills and techniques, including pipettes, balances, syringes, titrations, and dilutions.
- Good time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to cope under pressure.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, seeking advice when necessary.
- Understanding of Quality Control/Quality Assurance processes and their importance in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
