Job Overview

This is a challenging role that requires a seasoned leader to oversee the integration of various projects within Network Rail, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective coordination.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Lead the delivery and implementation of the overall industry programme (L0), taking personal accountability for the totality of the outcome(s) and the realisation and optimisation of benefits.
  2. Direct and deliver all projects within the TRU programme, identifying best time frames and mechanisms for delivery and how they interact with agreed benefits.
  3. Develop and review works relating to NPR facilitation and timetable change linked to TRU core and wider Network North initiatives.
  4. Maintain programme integration strategies and sub-plans, aligning them to the strategic direction of the major programme (TRU), Network Rail (NR), the Train Operating Companies (TOCs) and Department of Transport (DfT).
  5. Create a collaborative programme environment across NR, project delivery teams, TOCs and DfT to establish effective behaviours.
  6. Monitor planning to consider cross-asset requirements.
  7. Contribute as a member of the Infrastructure Investment senior management team.
  8. Ensure compliance with corporate health and safety, quality and environment processes for the project.
  9. Assign and discharge Construction Design Management (CDM) duties for all projects in the Major Project.
  10. Sponsor audit of programme and project documentation, activities, processes and systems relating to programme integration.

About the Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an experienced professional who has successfully managed complex programmes in the construction and/or rail industries. The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial focus, be financially astute, and able to manage budgets, contracts, and resources effectively.

The successful candidate will also possess:

  • A proven track record of steering large-scale projects exceeding £1bn in budget.
  • Significant experience in programme integration, including knowledge of Health & Safety, quality and environment legislation and best practice.
  • Formal Programme Management qualification.
  • Experience of digital railway delivery.

Package Information

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary package, including:

  • Estimated salary: £124,872 per annum.
  • Car allowance: £8,000 per annum.
  • Location: Manchester or York, with travel required to locations across the TRU when necessary.
