About Us

Harris Primary Academy Crystal Palace is a two-form entry school situated in Penge, part of the London Borough of Bromley. We strive to create an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and safe. Our aim is to ensure that every pupil achieves a high standard academically and in extracurricular activities. We believe that a close partnership with parents is vital for children's growth and development. We keep parents informed and involved in all aspects of school life.


Main Responsibilities

As our After School Club Assistant, you will:

  • Establish a safe, creative, and stimulating environment for children's play experiences
  • Assist the Club Manager in planning a programme of activities tailored to meet the needs of the children
  • Form and maintain professional boundaries with children, staff, volunteers, parents, and carers
  • Ensure adherence to policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Develop a creative programme of arts, crafts, games, sports, drama, music, off-site activities relevant to the needs and interests of all children
  • Establish positive relationships with children and their families, valuing parental involvement
  • Be responsible for Health and Safety issues at the afterschool club, including clearing, setting up, and running activities, trips, and risk assessments
  • Attend weekly team meetings to discuss progress and issues
  • Carry out financial and administrative tasks, such as petty cash, registering children, and processing parental forms
  • Keep the building and areas of use clean, tidy, and accessible
  • Follow first aid procedures, including recording accidents and treatments
  • Deputise for the Club Manager when they are absent

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone with:

  • NVQ2 or equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant discipline (Playworker or Childcare)
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Knowledge of first aid
  • A willingness to undertake further training to meet the needs of the students
  • Experience in a similar role or working within a school setting
  • Experience supporting students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
