NHS Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a CNS in Urology Cancer. The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering high-quality patient care and a strong understanding of urological cancers, particularly renal and bladder cancer. This is a permanent full-time position, but part-time hours will be considered. The CNS role involves supporting, educating, and providing care to patients and their families, with a focus on safety, advocacy, and transparency.
Main Duties and TasksThe successful candidate will work closely with the renal and bladder cancer urology specialist nursing team and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide support and advice to patients. This will involve forming constructive and professional relationships with Urologists, Oncologists, Radiologists, Outpatients, and Ward staff across trust sites. The CNS will participate in nurse-led clinics, education, research, referrals, and audit to deliver patient-focused care and improve the quality of care and patient experience.
Person Specification- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
- Evidence of post-registration CPD and post-registration qualification in a relevant area of specialty or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6
- Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
- Significant post-registration experience with evidence of passion and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice
- Evidence of achievements and career development in the current post and ongoing professional development/competence
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to the specialty
- Experience and enthusiasm for teaching, assessing, and supervising others in a clinical setting
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross-agency work environment
- Demonstrate understanding, experience, or willingness to be a practice-based supervisor/assessor as detailed in the NMC
- Experience in service development
- Specialist nurse experience
- Understanding of renal cancer pathway
- Understanding of bladder cancer pathway
- Ability to explain the requirement to balance clinical caseload and developing skills, knowledge, and competence
- Willingness to achieve competence in a range of clinical skills and expanded practices
- Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance
- Ability to adapt behavior to changing circumstances
- Ability to work a varied shift pattern where required and ability to work across UHB sites or off-site in NHS premises where required
