Marine Consultant Position

As a Principle Marine Consultant, you will play a key role in directing and coordinating our team in multiple disciplines and offshore sectors, including renewables, construction, oil and gas, and providing advice on environmental impact assessments, licensing, equipment specifications, project design, and management.
The successful candidate will have extensive prior experience working in the field (minimum two years) and at least five years' experience within the marine environmental industry, with one year in a leadership role, demonstrating a track record of successful contract execution.
Candidates will possess suitable knowledge of technologies such as cameras (RGB & IR), sonars, C-PODs/F-PODs, noise measurement, Passive Acoustic Monitoring (arrays/buoys/static recorders), ADCPs, acoustic releases, buoys, mooring configurations, etc.
Your ProfileResponsibilities:
- Provide mitigation advice for offshore industries;
- Logistics and freight management for offshore projects worldwide;
- Assist with proposals, tenders, and vendor databases/questionnaires;
- Quality control and supervision of databases, data collection, and report writing;
- Contribute to marketing initiatives, preparing marketing literature, social media posts, seeking new work opportunities and contacts/networking;
- Assist with supervision and management of contractors;
- Technical, financial, and contractual management to OSC & client requirements;
- Maintain strong client communication to sustain and develop long-term relationships;
- Assist in successful project delivery to meet targets and work within budget and programme scope;
- Develop innovative solutions to O&G and renewable sector challenges through application of novel approaches;
- EIA, HRA, MMMP, and client report preparation;
- Line management and mentoring of junior staff;
- Oversee training and knowledge sharing;
- Development/improvement of company policies and maintaining ISO certification.
Requirements:
- Legally permitted to work in the UK prior to employment;
- Excellent communicator;
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. marine biology, oceanography, or environmental science);
- A minimum of two years' experience in offshore fieldwork (e.g. MMO/PAM/Environmental Scientist, etc.);
- At least five years of experience in the marine consultancy sector, one of which is in a leadership position;
- A demonstrated track record in project management and financial management;
- Proven experience in managing personnel and teams;
- Positive and encouraging delegation skills;
- Excellent written, numerical, and verbal communication skills;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programmes (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.);
- Able to work on own initiative and prioritise effectively, achieving results against tight deadlines;
- Genuine interest about the business, and the industry;
- Commercially aware, discreet, and able to handle sensitive information.
Desirable:
- Knowledge and experience of environmental surveys (e.g. water & sediment sampling);
- Experience with consultancy in an offshore environmental context;
- Experience working with O&G, wind, military, and/or tidal sectors in pre/post-consent project delivery;
- MMO and PAM training;
- Offshore survival certifications (e.g. BOSIET & medical);
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
