About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Marine Biology/Ecology with expertise in marine mammal acoustics to join our team at Ocean Science Consulting Limited.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist our Managing Director, Dr. Victoria Todd, in completing scientific peer-reviewed papers for submission to top journals.
  • Collaborate with Dr. Todd to finalise and submit a diverse range of scientific manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Conduct advanced statistical modelling and data analysis using the latest analytical tools.
  • Analyse and interpret all forms of marine ecological data sets, especially marine mammal acoustic data.
  • Contribute to experimental design and implementation of research projects.
  • Prepare and present research findings at conferences and seminars.
  • Assist in the supervision and mentoring of graduate students and research assistants.
Requirements
  • PhD in Marine Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, including at least three first-author peer-reviewed papers.
  • Demonstrated experience with marine mammal acoustics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commercially minded.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with marine fieldwork and data collection.
  • Proficiency with GIS and statistical modelling software.
  • Knowledge of marine conservation and management practices.
