As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome learning barriers and promoting their academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement tailored learning activities that cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Use positive behavior management techniques to support students in managing challenging behavior and developing emotional regulation skills.
- Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their emotional and social development, and encouraging them to take ownership of their learning.
- Work closely with therapists and other professionals to ensure that students receive comprehensive support and guidance.
- A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health and Social Care, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an SEMH or special school setting.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable students.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a strong understanding of child protection policies and procedures.
