Job Title: Legal Officer

As a Legal Officer in the Royal Air Force, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the organisation within the frameworks of rules and regulations. Your expertise will be sought by military commanders and staff in various environments, including national, coalition, and allied settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise on domestic and international humanitarian law
  • Provide guidance on military law, air law, employment law, European law, health and safety, and environmental law
  • Develop and draft legislation related to the Armed Forces
  • Act as Legal Adviser to service inquiry panels
  • Represent the RAF in Courts Martial, Service Civilian Courts, and Summary Appeal Courts
  • Assist in criminal investigations, evidence gathering, interviewing, and pre- and post-change custody
  • Advise personnel on the Armed Forces Act 2006 and related procedures
  • Provide legal training across all ranks and branches of the RAF
Requirements:
  • Membership of the Bar of England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland, with completed pupillage
  • Admission to the Roll of England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland
  • At least 18 months post-qualification experience
  • GCSEs at a minimum of Grade C/4 or Scottish National 5's at a minimum grade of C in English Language and Mathematics
