Job Description

Base Materials is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Whetstone site. As a key member of our Production Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our machinery and equipment, performing routine maintenance tasks, and responding to equipment faults.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out routine scheduled maintenance work and respond to equipment faults
  • Use diagnostic and fault-finding methods to establish root cause and repair plant and equipment, minimizing downtime
  • Provide training to operators to enable them to perform routine basic maintenance activities
  • Participate in training programs to stay updated with new technologies and best practices in maintenance engineering
  • Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance issues and improve overall efficiencies
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance
  • Manage external contractors while on site
  • Assist with new plant builds and installations across the sites
Requirements:
  • Mechanical engineering apprenticeship or qualification
  • Industrial or manufacturing background
  • Electrical and mechanical training/experience within an industrial setting
  • Ability to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures
  • Capacity to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings (desirable)
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary of 40k per annum + shift premium (£10 per day)
  • Overtime rates apply weekdays 11⁄3, Saturday 1 1⁄2 and Sunday double time
  • ~33 days annual leave
