Job Title: Home Dialysis Assistant

Job Summary:

This role is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Home Dialysis Assistant, working alongside experienced renal staff to provide safe and effective care for our patients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with their peritoneal dialysis treatment, including preparing their equipment and connecting/disconnecting them from their machines.
  • Provide training and education to patients on how to perform their own treatment and prevent infection.
  • Conduct phlebotomy skills and train patients on how to use their equipment.
  • Work as a lone worker, driving to patients' homes and back to base, which can be in Durham or Sunderland depending on the location of the patients.
  • Support the clinical team with training of new/inexperienced staff, patients, and their family members.
  • Assist with any troubleshooting required with the dialysis therapy and machines.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience of working in a care setting as a paid carer.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Maths and English at level 2 or above (GCSE A G or equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 3 or committed to completing a Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker qualification on commencement of post.
